Default Insuring your 930

I need some advice in insuring my 79 930. Its about a week away from its restoration completion.

I spoke to GEICO- they were pretty clueless. Premiums were cheap though. My fear is that they will not provide a fair value on the car should I have an issue.

I don't plan to drive it much as it came out nicer than I planned. I was looking for a daily driver for the summer.....and got so into the restoration.

I live in North Jersey.

Haggerty?
Other?

Thanks - That gold color is amazing. I was so tempted to paint it something oh here than original black.

Haggerty quoted me 1600 no deductible guaranteed value of 100k with comp/ cool land 300/100. That's 50% more than Geico - but Geico provides no definitive coverage value.

The most I could get State Farm to provide my '79 was $81,000 as an agreed value. Based on the recent Hagerty numbers that would be way under-insured.

For your freshly restored '79 who knows what it would be worth?

Step one is to get it appraised, then shop for an agreed value policy. There are many places online to do both. I have JC Taylor for mine.

I raised mine last weekend online with Hagerty to 100k. They were happy to take my money.

Agreed value policy is probably the only way to go. However, be sure you check with insurer as to their restrictions. Some of them have no sense of humor.

I used to be insured w/American Collector. Actually had a claim once when a tire fell off a tire pole and cracked my whale tail. You only really know how good an insurance company is when you have a claim. They handled it terrific -- I got an estimate from my wrench of choice an emailed it to them -- by that Friday a check was in my mailbox for the exact amount.

I had to leave b/c the premiums were getting nuts. Was paying well over $1000/yr and this was 5-6yrs ago when the car was in the $35-40K agreed value range.

Just upped the agreed value of the 77 with American Collectors to $100K. Premium went up $250 to $700/year.
