Anthony, I don't know how close you follow the 930 market but you might be about two years too late. It's a nice sounding exhaust (I had one), but the market has changed. These are no longer inexpensive hobby cars to mod to your desire. A decent one starts at 80k+, thats collector car territory these days. Collector cars don't tend to get modded. The more stock, the better. Whether that's good or bad, history will say. FS has a wide variety of p cars and others they cater to, but the companies that rely on modded older air cooled cars are probably in for tough times, sorry to say.

Hey TT,

I appreciate your input on modifying 930T's. I do understand that they are no longer inexpensive cars to modify, however I have some customers who are collectors that are looking to upgrade their exhaust on their 930Ts to get a little more power out of their car. A lot of collectors save their stock components and bolt on the easy on easy off parts to be able to drive their cars to enjoy them still. The collection community has grown very strong recently. Even though collecting cars has become more popular, we have a handful of customers who collect various cars from the 930T to the Ferrari F40 and still drive them occasionally and want a bit more power. Again, we do recommend that they keep their stock parts when they do install our exhaust components.

We are working on a variety of parts for newer Porsches including the 991T and 991 GT3 which we've had in our shop for research and development for some time and are in our final stages of development. We also have been finishing our final touches on BMW's new M3 / M4 as well and have a fantastic valvetronic system that is perfect for those who are looking for that aggressive sound when they want it and to quiet the sound when they don't. Check out some of my other threads that highlight them. I like to highlight some of our products from time to time. I do appreciate your comments!

Anthony,
I hope you're right, but I don't think you are, the modifying market for 930s is sharply declining. Just an unfortunate fact and result of sharply increasing values.
I've known joe and bought parts from fs for almost 15 yrs, I was one if his first 997tt customers in '07. Anyway, I wish you well, but if I were looking to expand a market it would more likely be the 997/6tt, not the 930/964T market.

I have a low miles 930 that I drive about 1k miles a year, if that. It is nearly all stock with the only mods being this exhaust and removal of the air pump and associated plumbing. The exhaust is ceramic coated in black and looks factory with the exception of course of a logo and the lack of a cat. The sound is well worth the effort of returning the car back to completely stock when (or if) I sell the car. The guys at fabspeed did they best they could to match the factory look.

FWIW, I have an 87' that I drive a lot. I put a Zork tube on it, kept the stock exhaust. The car sounds almost like a 935:

I love it.

I - for one - appreciate the availability of a high quality exhaust for these older cars. It's not only about modifying these cars. My original muffler has seen better days; as near as I can tell there is little if any chance of finding a NOS muffler for my '79 930. Mufflers are wear items if you drive these cars - we'll all have to replace them at some point, or get used to inhaling carbon monoxide !!

Default picture of the installed FabSpeed Exhaust

I made the decision to upgrade the exhaust. Its not going to be a museum piece. I will drive it and if I sell it someday the future driver will likely drive it as well.

My plan is to upgrade those items that will make the car more functional and improve the drivability and utility of the car. After comparing the original exhaust to the fabspeed with heat exchangers...it seemed like this was a place to go for the mod.

Whats the worst thing that can happen...I have to keep this car forever ?

I have a fabspeed set up on my 77, and I love it. I would return to stock to stock if I sold car but I hope to never have do that.

You're very welcome! We understand that something as simple as an exhaust can really liven up the 930T.

I'm glad you enjoy your exhaust setup that you have on your 77. I hope you'll never have to set it back to stock to sell it either!

Unfortunately we don't have any videos of the Supercup on a 930. Let me know if there are any other questions or anything else you need in the meantime!
