Default '75-'78 930 engine compartment rubber bumpers

Posted this on Pelican also.

The rubber bumpers that support the rear lid on 930’s from 1975-1978. Yours are probably missing or if you still have them, they are hard and brittle. They can be installed on later years also.

Here’s the deal on these. I have a ’78 930. The rubber bumpers on my car were missing so I set out to find a pair. Not only could I not find replacements, I couldn’t even find a part number or even the part in the PET. It was like it didn’t even exist.

I managed to get an original from a good friend of mine off his ’78 and had it reproduced. It was very expensive to have all the tooling done and manufacturing. I realize they are a little pricey, but I spoke to several owners and they all seemed to think that this was a fair price. This is a hobby for me. I’m not looking to get rich, just trying to recoup my costs and make a few bucks to buy more parts.

Those of you who have seen the Turbo stripes I made, you know how OCD I am. It has to be perfect. These came out great.

$48 a pair shipped CONUS

Thanks,
Tom

!979 does not have them. 1979 only has the rubber buffers (999 703 140 40) which are turned (threaded) into the rear l &r underside of the lid.

Well, mine has one and the hole for the other. Maybe the original owner put them in or the newer vins had them.

Someone on Pelican posted that early '79's had them too. If you have the holes then yours must have had them.

What a great idea to reproduce them! They were absolutely essential to deal with the original turbo tails which, being made from fiberglass, were a little less than stellar in their execution, and wound up rubbing the paint off along the side of the engine opening unless you have those. I suspect even the 3.3 liter turbos would benefit from them as well.
