Default 1987 930 TIRE SIZE ??

Good day!

I am planning to buy a set of new tires for my '87 930. Curently, I have fuchs with 7x16 and 9x16 with 205-55-16 (front) and 245-45-16 (rear).

I am planning to go in this direction : 225-50-16(front) and 245-45-16(rear).

What would be the better set up for the front between the two? Pros and Cons?

Thanks in advance!

I ran the same sizes on my '87 930. I had no issues. YMMV

I ran the same sizes also...the problem is that the manufacturers don't seem to like the 245/45/16 sizes for some reason and they're CONSTANTLY discontinuing them. That means that the fronts usually outlast the rears at the rate of two to one. I had a nice set of Michelin Pilot Sports....and had to go to the Poetnzas because Michelin dc'd the 245's, and gave my almost new fronts to another Rennlister.....now I find that Bridgestone has also dc'd the 245's, so when the rears wear out, I'll be looking for something else in a staggered set. I refuse to run mismatched tires. This gets to be a PIA....but because I want to keep the car stock and run on the 16 inch Fuchs, I'm faced with the same dilemna when the rears wear out. Some guys go to the 17's because they dont' have the staggered size availability issues like the 16's do.

Thanks Canysmc and Chuck_Jones for your input!

I already bought the set of tires from Tire Rack. There's not much choices for the set of the tires. I ended up with the Hankook Ventus R-S2.

Thanks again!

Check out the Kumho XS's in 265 & 226 16's. They fit 9 & 7" rims.
