1979 930 Turbo, chassis number 9309801155 for sale at Silverstone auctions. It looks like the roll cage has been removed since it sold on eBay (California, 2012). Nice shot of part of the California emissions decal in the driver’s rear quarter window.

This past Saturday was the annual Euro-Fest at the BMW factory in Greenville, SC. There were two 79 930's registered for this event (and like 6 guards red either 86' or 87' models). I pull into my assigned spot, and there is a beautiful Gulf Blue 930 next to me. All original car - with the exception of the normal wear items, tires, etc. We get to chatting an he mentions that his is one of the last 50, we check his vin and it turns out that his is the next number higher than mine (930.980.1157). What are the odds of that? The owner is based out of Braselton, GA.
As the story goes, the Gulf car was originally ordered for the CEO of Gulf oil. It has a factory installed variable boost controller as well as a boost gauge where the clock is normally.. Very original time piece. Build date was also 12/79 like my car.

Very nice!

Perhaps paint to sample delayed these two 930's (1156 & 1157) at the factory and they fitted 12/79 VIN decals.

I didnt realise until reading this post that last run of cars were worth more money,
but its a cool surprise i bought the last 1977 Euro ROW two years ago and been restoring her everyday since in my garage, trying to not use any afternmarket new old stock parts but trying to recondition existing parts in the car, but its hard sometimes as a lot of the wire is brittle etc,
But its good to know this information,

Thanks Phil

From the ad, looks like it was orgiinally gold so perhaps a repaint? Interesting that they have it listed as a 1979 911 SC.

It's paint code 436, sienna metallic, it must be a PTS car as color was used in 76-77. He has owned car for 28 years. Car needs some TLC but worth saving.

Is there a photo of the VIN decal? Being PTS it could be another 12/79 production.

That's a very cool color - what kind of work does it need?

I don't know for sure- mostly cosmetic things based on pictures I received. Motor has been twin plugged, SC cams and aftermarket exhaust but other wise stock. Would be a stunning car restored.

Looks to have been lowered. Also has a later tailpipe along with what might be a euro rear foglight.

This PTS 1979 911SC looks very close to your #1156 color…
