new owner with brake pad question
Hello All!
im new to the forum and just got a 2017 Porsche 911 last June, and I would like to track the car. I did 2 track days last August at Watkins Glen and daily driving since then, but seems like the rear brake pads are worn, at least not acceptable for another track day in April. But after the track days, the pads seemed normal, almost brand new, couldnt see alot of wear.
Only thing i could think of is, during my track day was, during my last run, i hit the brakes very hard on the straight and the ABS kicked in. after that day, during normal daily driving , when i would step on the brakes, it feels like the ABS was on but it wasnt. only way it didnt feel like that was, if i stepped on the brakes hard. not it only squeaks alot. any ideas or suggestions?
On a side note, can i go to any regular mechanic to do the brake flush and brake pad replacement. my Porsche mechanic is quite far from me, and seems a lot of people do these jobs themselves
Thank you

You can certainly learn to do this yourself, but given the questions you are asking it sounds like a more experienced mechanic should look at your car. I would contact your local PCA chapter and see if there are any recommended independent shops where you live.

You need a specialist. You're also probably still under warranty.
You might want to tell them that you track the car. it shouldn't affect your warranty. Just be real nice to them. Things vary from dealer to dealer.

Burning Brakes
To the OP: The advice you got here is perfect. There are many possible reasons for what is going on, and as your car is presumably still under warranty, you need to take the car back to a Porsche dealership to sort it out.
That said, this is the air-cooled Porsche 911 forum. In the future, you will get better information in the appropriate forum for your car.
