Default 1981 Euro 911sc exhaust upgrade?

I am interested in doing exhaust work on my 1981 911sc Euro. I want to improve the performance and sound. The car has had the entire heating system (exchangers, blower and tubes) removed. I have a set of Bursch tuned headers and the crossover oil lines to correctly install the headers. Here is my question: should I install Supertrapp straight out mufflers or should I use a dual-in dual out stock fit type Dansk muffler? Which is best? OR should I just keep it stock? I have even heard of guys using a Magnaflow muffler set up from a Camaro (it fits). Any comments will be appreciated.

I, as well, would like to know about an affordable upgrade from stock.

James, I recently upgraded my 83 sc to SSI heat exchangers and a M & K dual-in, single-out muffler. Sourced both from Pelican where there is good info about options. The exhaust-note bears no resemblance to stock- certainly a bit louder but a lot more "growl". I like it a lot and there is a claimed increase in lower-end torque with the SSI set-up. It does feel like it has a bit more zip. I had added front oil-cooler so also needed oil cross-over lines. This has been a great upgrade that I wish I had done ten years prior. SSIs about $1675 and M&K $795 so it all depends on definition of affordable. If I drive 20 more years or so it annualizes out to be affordable
As an aside I have the entire original heat-exchangers, cats, muffler in decent shape and a M&K cat bypass. PM if interested in any of that stuff.

" best" is such a subjective term.
I have SSIs to go on and a dansk non sport 2-1 muffler.
I have no desire to sound loud or obnoxious The stock sound of an air cooled is sweet enough with the extra grunt of the SSI

I really want to avoid being loud and obnoxious, thank-you!

if this Euro car has the same exhaust as the '73 then you cannot increase the performance with just other exhaust trinkets - SSIs might be lighter tho; or use Ti$$$

You can drop a few 10 thousand dollar bills on motor hotrods and a tuned exhaust....

if you seek a slightly louder sound at the same performance level, then there are various options - in order:

stock
various others with no or little resonance
Monty
Monty with cowhorns
sports straight outlets (many can be capped to reduce the SPL and convert it back to stock)

why not lose some wt. back there with an M&K or Monty?

There were 3 different Euro motors in 1981
930/10 no cat, 9.8cr
930/09 mit cat, 8.6cr
930/19 same as /09 but for sportmatic.

The main benefit of headers is two fold
flow increase
exhaust scavenging where the reflected sonic signals in the exhaust arrive at overlap to suck additional fresh charge into the cylinder

any muffler pretty much negates any scavenging effect and w/o cam over lap there will be little effect anyway, The cams in a stock SC or 3.2 Carrera have zero overlap(it's actually -1.5° by contrast an early S will have 57° of overlap ) So pretty much the main benefit of an exhaust mod on a stock SC/Carrera is to increase flow. To that end the stock exhaust on a 930/10 is actually not too bad, these cars have a resonator where the other versions have catalytic converters. SSI will flow better(depending on muffler used) but not a whole lot better and only in the upper reaches of the rev range.

Many want better sound, which is usually louder too

here is a stock SC/Carrera muffler

you can mod it like this for sound or but a DAnsk /Monty sport muffler and avois the work.
