Default Front Boot latch won't hold

I am certain that this is covered somewhere in here, but after a couple hours of searching, it is time for a new thread. I have a 1980 911 Targa and when closing the "frunk" the main latch holds but it will not stay fully closed. If I put my hand in there, it will raise about an inch before it catches. Obviously I need it to close flush. Please help and thank you in advance!

Much easier to swap it out for new than to mess with one you know is bad. Two bolts and a screw and you are done.

Any chance the runner adjustment feet on either side are too far out and keeping it from closing?

is it bad or just in need of adjustment?

I used to sometimes use a bra on the hood. Because of the thickness of the material I had to adjust the hood latch each time. I think I had the same thing happen if I adjusted the latch too low.

So I think it is worth loosening the latch on the body and raising up a hair, maybe 1/16 of an inch at a time.

Works good on a long hood, not so much on a short.

The latches don't typically go bad.. it sounds like yours is out of adjustment.

Look on the trunk side of the black plastic cover and pop-out the 2 plugs that cover the mounting bolts. There are a couple of allen bolts in there that can be lessened and allow you to move the latch around.

Also, check the catch on the underside of the hood, it allows for some adjustment as well and you may be able to catch the fix here.
