Default Seat Advice

Hey Guys,

I have a 1976 912E. I'm posting on here because it is closer to a 911 than a 912. My problem is that I bought seat covers for it, but after taking the seats out I found out that the bottom of the cushion is actually pushing through the springs. Where can I get new seat pads?

Thanks,

Rod

I would consider having a good upholstery shop redo the foam. Could be well worth it if you have factory seats.

Yes, they are factory seats. I'm in the Los Angeles area. Can you recommend anyone?

I have seen seat foam pads for sale. They are quite expensive. Doug is pretty plugged in in the California area so I'm sure he will know someone that can help.

A quick search brings up lots of supply:

You just need to find someone competent. I had a local shop in Pomona make the leather covers for my Reshaped Sparco's. I purchased a full hyde of full grain leather from Tandy and it was twice what I needed. Then I went to my foam guy and purchased a roll of automotive grade PE foam and off I went to the shop. Even that shop could have custom cut foam for my stock seats had I needed to go that route. Just buy the foam online and take it to who ever you or a trusted friend use for auto upholstery. It's not rocket science.

Thanks for the link Amber Gramps. I ordered them, and it nice to know that it is a genuine Porsche part and half the price that I got from World Upholstery.

If you want quality you need Autobahn in San Diego.

Auto Atlanta can be hit and miss with their parts. Not trying to slam them, just that I've had both good and bad experiences with them.

Well, it looks like I'll be taking the seats down to Autobaun Monday morning.

I just wanted to show off my newly built and recovered seats. Tony at Autobahn Interiors, of San Diego, did a fantastic job. I highly recommend him.
