Default Bisimoto exhaust installed

Bye, old heavy rustiness. Hello, new light shinyness.

Weight savings: 18 pounds (23 to 5)

Sound: Loud, deep, nice. My car friends say not too loud, but I wouldn't try classical music in the car while driving. Can have a conversation, though.

Power: Who knows -- butt says maybe.

It's a resonator. Sound waves bounce off of it and cancel out the following waves.

Google: Pulse Chamber

I'm going to swap in the sport cat from Fabspeed next. I'll get mine ceramic black coated but I wanted to try it first.

So the pipe is like a little musical instrument? Is there a hole at the end, or ? It give the exhaust more cowbell?

No hole, less cowbell. It's a resonance chamber that fights sound with sound....So it's an open exhaust without the noise.

^ Yes. More technically, the extension pipe helps to create an interference (aka standing) wave that reduces the exhaust pulse amplitude coming through the exhaust pipe. Less sound but the same airflow.

Standing wave example is when you roll down the back windows of your car and not the front, and feel that pulse in your ears. In that example it's not timed to reduce sound!

And.. LOL about the cowbell!

The Pelican thread explains it much better than I ever could. All I know is that I love it.

That's very ingenious, and yet I wonder if Hans Mezger will want to bonk all of our heads together like Moe.

OK, funny story. When I was @13 I got my first ATC 90 and a few years later got a 110 that was stroked and had a big cam and the works. Well, it had a DG down pipe that I promptly hacked the end off and ran it empty. Sounded like a megaphone on roids. I was told to quiet it down but didn't weld so I couldn't put the baffle back in. My solution. A Coke can. Cut the bottom off and crammed it on. It was on there until a neighbor stole it when I was in my 20's. Sounded just like today's ricers.
