I would of thought of maybe throwing a fresh coat of paint on the block to clean it all up. Its harder to do with cooling fins on there but when its done it looks nice, I did it on an older motor before.

That motor looks fantastic.
so my motor is out on my 89 and valve, timing covers off, intake manifolds etc. I was going to powder coat these bits, but I'm not going to now. They put the parts in the ultrasonic cleaner and well, they look awesome. A little patina but nice look to them. Don't want them uniform. This is a nearly 30yr old time capsule and going to keep that way.
I will refinish the fan housing and have ordered a new fan. All the yellow metal is off and going to the plater. Tins will be powdercoated, etc.
All this 'cause I needed a clutch and a valve adjustment.

Yes, mine needed the valve guides but since I am there why not do it right. All the tins are powder coated as well and the other bits were anodized. This I figure will be the only time in my life I will need to do this. The car has only 50k on it and is in perfect shape. The motor should run strong now after the build. It goes back into the car next week.
