Question Help tracing an East Coast owner of 86 Targa

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to trace the previous owner(s) of my 1986 Carrera 3.2 Targa so I can complete it's history file. All I have is the owners manual and service book showing stamps up to 1991. I believe it was a single owner car and the person was a doctor but that may not be the case. That's all I got from the UK dealer who sadly has not provided any further details/history apart from the photo attached and in the link below.

The car was originally supplied 11/21/86 by dealer #0813 in Montgomery, AL. It was also serviced by Porsche dealer #1018 in Raleigh NC in 1989-1991. I've tried numerous Porsche dealers in these states to no avail.

From Carfax I have established the car was registered in Florida (Apopeka) 1993-1998, New Jersey (Chatham/Summit) 1998-2008 and again in Florida (Danbury/Redding) since 2008, where it had a licence plate N42 OPU. Redding, Florida was it's last registered location before export to UK in Feb 2016.

These photos are all I have of the car in the US. They were taken in its cosy looking garage before it came to the UK. There's a Turbo in the background of one photo so I figure the owner must be a Porsche fan.

Appreciate any help/guidance members can give with either the Porsche dealer numbers, licence details or from the photos.

Many thanks,
Tom

Have you contacted the person with the Flickr pictures? Can't help much, but Danbury/Redding is in Connecticut.

What Gavonder said. It doesn't compute that it says Redding but has FL plates. Something's off.
You could try asking a couple of indie shops within reasonable distance of Redding (Speedsport Tuning and Dan Jacobs being the most obvious) if they have a record of your car's VIN or if they remember servicing a red 3.2 with Florida plates.

Thumbs up Thanks guys

Yes, the Florida plate is a puzzle. Will try contacting those CT shops Rick, thank you for that. The Flickr page is my own Gavonder, thank you too for replying. Tom

also contact DMVs in likely states - a search on here will turn up more info on what to do
