Default 1973-1974 IROC colors, all in one place with codes and references

Hi all, I'm usually over in the 914 forums but thought some of you might like this. As a hobby I do automotive illustrations and am currently working on a set of the 1974 IROC Porsches. Getting the colors right is turning out harder than anticipated as it seems that there are some opposing opinions. Additionally some of the older photographs depict the color a bit differently than they would appear in real life. I'm hoping that some of you can chime in with your 2 cents, I’ve tried to get close. I’ve added references below each one, and also included the chassis numbers. I’ve tried to avoid using old photographs for references because of the color issue.

I know that drivers/numbers changed cars during the series, so these are all representing the set at the beginning. Some of the references show the same car with a livery from further along in the series, I’m using the reference there only for the color. Other references show non-IROC cars, for these I only used them if I could be sure that the car in question was using the same paint code/color as the related IROC car.

I used Google search for the reference photos, so some of these may have actually been taken by some of you, or maybe they're pictures of your car.

If any of you have any corrections, I'd love to hear them and update my drawings. Please post supporting references.

You might get more responses if this were in the 911 forum. Let me know if you want it to be moved.

Cool project! I'm definitely interested in a print of the Bahama Blue car when you get them finalized. It'll look perfect hanging next to my '74 354 code Targa

good work - IIRC, the paint code swatches (for many/most/all??) are out there somewhere too

and that might avoid the different lighting effects in different pics with different cameras

I was trying to find some of them but a lot that I've seen are just photos of the paint swatches, which brings it back to the same issues. I wish there was a way to convert a paint code into RGB values reliably.

After looking through these again, I definitely need to update the Gulf Blue car.

Excellent work! That real life shot of the Strawberry is something else. I wasn't even aware of that color until now.

I might need one of those. Some of my favorite colors, as evidenced by what's in my garage.

Recently did some searches...google IROC Porche colors..you will get more pics than needed, and a post on Pelican lists the colors and paint codes for at least the first 12 cars delivered and raced.
Cool project.

Sahara beige! I missed out on a car in that color a few months ago. It was gorgeous, but a but more yellowish than your sketch. There should still be a video of the car, I'll send it to you.

I can't believe people use pts slots for voodoo blue instead of choosing these historic colors.
