1984 3.2 valuation help
Everyone,
Looking at a well taken care of but high mileage 1984 3.2l coupe. Chiffon white on brown. 10ft. Paint. Interior is good outside of dash crack, bad steering wheel and really bad driver seat (has to be redone). Tyranny seems decent from test drive, clutch was strong. No signs of rust. A/C is typically weak. Problem is 215k miles.
Thoughts on price if I choose to take the chance and play with a daily driver?

I think low 20's - lots of potential future costs. A 200K car without an engine rebuild somewhere along the line would concern me - engine rebuild alone is minimum $10K.
When I was looking I saw at least 2 similar cars with fewer miles in your area - both asking low $30's meaning you'd pay upper $20's - check out the PCA web site.

flatman and greens, thanks for the response. I agree with all of your points - I'm really just not sure the vehicle can command even above $25k. It needs work and will need future maintenance. Plus, it's Canadian...

Seems high...
For comparison: my 84 cab is ROW, 35k orig miles. All service records, recent $5k major done this spring including new tires, exhaust. Excellent condition w great paint and leather (no dash cracking or warping). Steering wheel is good as are seats (bolsters and piping show the usual cracking). Only "mistake" is basket handle 3rd brake light that my father put on it...and I don't want to reprint rear deck, so I've left it on...I've flirted w selling and based on a bunch of conversations (and offers) my expectation is low $40s.

Thanks res22. If you had to put a value on it, what range would place? I've driven the car, guts seem ok given mileage. Owner seems has done a decent job taking care of it. I'd take a chance on this as a daily driver/play with car for the right price....

Bad paint. Bad interior. 200k miles.
200k really takes almost all buyers out of the equation.
Right price is low 20s.
Your best bet is to search online for some examples of comps with such high miles, and show the seller.
See if the seller gets it.
Better off moving along.

High teens to low 20s. I don't want my opn to push you away from a car that's got you excited or to end up insulting the seller. But there's a lot out there in the mid 30s w way lower miles. And in more broadly desired colors and a couple years younger w the "market fav" G50. (I love my 915. And I'm not knocking the color combo; just stating the obvious.) One thing I learned when shopping for a GTS there's always another one out there, so no need to force it.
Have you checked Excellence? Both their buyers guide and sale reports? Not gospel, but, useful data points.
