Default Gas Cap for 84

I know this has been discussed and I've read the posts but my problem seems a little different. Lost my gas cap - replaced with cheap plastic screw version - but wanted to find an original version - seems the metal screw fuel tank cap version sold by Porsche Part 91120127200 - doesn't fit. I know I had a metal cap but do not remember if it was a bayonette version (only had the car a short time) or screw type. My fuel filler neck has one ring with 3 notches.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I think you may have the wrong part #. Search on Pelican shows part #993-201-271-00 for 1984 http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...pg5.htm#item10

91120127200 is for an SC http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg4.htm#item8

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply - I saw that one but the one I lost was 100% metal - not the red one.

Porsche classic actually says 911-201-272-00 should fit http://www.classicshop.porsche.com/p...120127200.html Maybe call dealer or Wayne at Pelican Parts for clarification

Yes I saw that - I actually bought this cap through a Porsche dealer - but it slightly large. I just got the car so its quite odd. Wish I had looked at the previous cap a little more carefully before I lost it.

maybe it had an older style cap on it?

I bought a new metal one for my '73 a few years ago - likely still available
