1979 930 35K Miles
Hello everyone. I have been patiently waiting to find a 79 930 and I think I may have found one. In saying this I have some questions/concerns I am hoping to get some input on.
The current owner is asking $140K for the car. The owner is the second owner and has owned the car for nearly 30 years. He is elderly and the car was maintained by his own race team. The car doesn't have documented history, but I know quite a bit about the owner. I drove the car today and it doesn't smoke, interior is clean (relatively) and the car has had one repaint. The car is white with sunroof and seems to have most of the options. The tool kit etc is with the car, under car seems pretty clean, no signs of rust, and interior is in good shape with a bit of a saggy roof interior. Interior is tan with carpets clean. Car starts up instantly, brakes work, but not to the level in which I am used to. The car drove solid and straight as an arrow, no shakes, wobbles, or odd noises.
So here is where my questions come in. The car literally has no documentation. The current owner has always garaged it and I have some personal knowledge of him and his reputation (good). I don't think there is much room on the price, but with no documentation, how is the car going to hold up with value? He spend about $16K on the car making it right some time ago, but his race team did all the work, so not much in terms of documentation. Car is located in SoCal and needs an inspection.
I welcome all thoughts, questions, comments, concerns. Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge.

Thanks for all the info guys. I've held off and looked at the results of the auction this weekend. Seems like a lot of the 930's didn't sell. Seems to me prices are going down. The one that did go for a pretty penny was a 79' with 60 miles on it. Pristine condition and went for 365k. For now, I will wait and see what comes available. Keep your eyes peeled!

Perfect cars go for big money and that hasn't changed.
Average cars prices have sagged and thats a market correction.
930's are notorious for getting modified and that REALLY affects prices.
