I'm 6'4, with average torso, but long legs. I've made and added a spacer to bring the steering wheel closer, but otherwise comfortable with seat all the way back on stock rails. I wear either driving shoes (sz 15) or drive barefoot.

I have size 13 feet and have thought about removing the center console on my 89 as I do catch it with my feet at times. I like to wear short converse type shoes when driving my 911.

For what its worth, the 981 (2013 or newer Boxster or Cayman) do have 2 or 3 more inches than the older 987. (I don't know if this is true for the 997 vs 991.) At 6' 3" and after trying a few, I did not think I could fit in a 987 Cayman (because of leg room) until I tried one with manual-adjust seats, then I just fit (for leg room). The arched roof with no sunroof means I can wear a helmet in the Cayman with no mods.

Good luck.

I took my 6'11" friend for some lunchtime laps around a racetrack in my relatively stock 930 once. It was comical how he had to fold his body up just to fit in the seat, knees were way up in the dashboard. At 6'9" I really don't think you will fit without a lot of cutting, welding, custom seat, etc, sorry. I'm 6'2" with a longer torso and I even had to build custom seat mounts to lower the the seat in my racecar.

Could someone please elaborate on the idea of custom seat rails? I would very much like to sit lower on my 88 targa but would also like to retain the factory sport seats as they're otherwise very comfortable.
