New Limited Edition MOMO Prototipo Wheel - Need your feedback
Rennlisters! We wanted to run this by you to gauge your interest. We're considering offering a limited edition of a special MOMO Prototipo Wheel. It will feature Alcantara in place of the standard leather, in addition, each wheel will have its own serial number. This unique wheel will only be available through Pelican Parts. We'd like to get your feedback, what do you think? Do you like the idea of an Alcantara covered steering wheel? Which do you prefer, white or dark grey stitching? The pictures below feature white stitching. Let us know your thoughts!

Nice job. There are a few other period sports cars that would like a shot at that, depending on how deep you want to dive into different horn button options.
The prices on period steering wheels and radios always kind of shocks me; one will be $75 and another will be $750, varying only in details. Curious on price point as well, but I guess that depends on volume of interest.

I bought an OMP brand a year ago for my 1980 because I preferred the Alcantara to smooth leather.
The white stitching looks great. I think it will be a good seller for you.

I think it would also be cool to use the markings from an old Prototipo; I like the version that has the Prototipo name at the bottom of the center spoke, just above the leather and doesn't have the box around it. Old school, baby.

IMO the price point should be the same as the regular Prototipo wheel and here's why. The Magnus Walker wheel was a $100 premium however he was a 3rd party "celebrity" endorser and presumably made a % profit on every wheel. I don't believe he was the actual retailer of the wheel. In this example Pelican would be the retailer so they are already making a profit. Also, many retailers offer exclusives. It's a way to make them stand out from other re-sellers. The goodwill that Pelican receives and the support from the community who buys it should be reasons enough to do an exclusive. That being said, if the thicker Alcantara wheel actually costs more than the standard leather, then yes, passing on the small cost difference is fair. But simply charging more for an "exclusive" would be a poor marketing decision.

- 380mm
- Leather (looks better for a longer time... make alcantara an option... do both)
- Thicker grip like they did with the Magnus Walker edition
- Same dish as the Mod07
- Pelican horn button
- Any color stitching (red, black, or white)
- Center indicator optional, but not yellow pelase! I like they idea of making it as an accent stitching at the center.
