Default Identification of a drain tube?

Hello all, I'm helping a friend work on his 77 911s and we have the engine out and discovered a drain tube I don't know what's for.

It's on the front of the tin ware on the right hand side. About 3/4" in diameter and 4" long, and Just in front of the engine oil cooler. It's fed from the engine side and it has a small tube that pokes in towards the inlet manifold. It's missing it's feed hose.

Sorry no pic as I'm at work right now.

Anyone know what this drains?

There should be a small 1/8 '' tube from the bottom of the air cleaner
or intake I believe that drains condensate from the intake.
I have usually seen these on MFI cars not as much CIS which a '77
should be wether 2.7 or 3.0..

Thanks,
We should be starting to reassemble the intake next week so I'll have a look for a drain in it.
