Virginia Antique Plates - Should I get one?
I plan to to take delivery of my 86 Porsche 911 cab in 2 weeks ftom PA. It will have 30 day temp tags . I plan to register the car in VA and have done some research on antique plates. I understand there are restrictions. It will be my extra car that will be garaged but I do plan to use it for pleasure on weekends and maybe taking it to friends places, gym etc. I don't plant to put more than 3000 miles a year ...do you guys have any advise on whether I should get the antique plates? Based on my usage as stated above? Thanks in advance for any feedback

Thanks for the feedback. So taking it out 3-4 times a week for pleasure, whatever that may be (giving your kid a ride, going to the gym, meeting a friend for lunch etc etc ) is OK?

I have FL vintage plates on my '58. I'm not sure why though.
When I lived in PA you only paid one time for vintage plates. Here in FL there is a annual renewal.
In PA cars with vintage plates did not have to undergo an annual state inspection. In FL we can drive anything we want - and we do.
I guess it depends on what sort of deal the state is offering.

I just purchased an '86 and made that same investigation. It was so limited in allowed uses that I felt technically I'd be in trouble doing much of anything with it.
