Default Replace stock exhaust with SSi what muffler is best sounding

going through the 3.0 rebuild and need to finish with the replacement of the stock exhaust and muffler which will provide the best sound and hp increase for a 2 in 1 out system

Ugly lump. Probably worthless.

Default My question

Is the Dansk muffler inlet/outlet the same diameter as stock? If it is larger does it mover the sweet spot higher in the rev range?

A Dansk will give you good mid range.....going for sound alone and free'er flow/big pipes ruins the mid range on a stock lump.

What's this? Another opportunity to post the sound of my exhaust? Well okay if you insist.

SSI with 2-in-2-out Dansk. Haven't dyno'd it to compare to stock, but probably lost a bit of mid-range torque (though with the way it sounds I don't really care). Going from the stock headers to SSI is going to be an improvement across the board, though, from what I understand, so you won't really be losing any torque.

If I copy your SSI and Dansk with 1 out set up on 1980SC stock engine, would I get similar sound?
Any idea how performance is affected?
Thanks for any comments.

Less volume with the 2-in-1-out, though a similar tone. Here's an SC with SSI with an M&K 1 out. Not sure on the performance difference.

Yes, your 2 out sounds better to my ears, love the agressive race car sound....but even this 1 out example is way better than my stock setup.
At this time I dont want to alter the rear valance of my Weissach with a 2nd cutout. My 84 has 2 cutouts from previous owner and its impossible to find a stock one for reasonable money to make it stock again.
Id even consider running a new set up and removing the rear valance.
Thanks again for sharing the 1 out information and video.
Very helpful and thanks again for your comments.

I just removed the stock valance for the center outlets and put it into storage. I kind of like how I can see the muffler from the rear now without the valance, but figure I need to pick up a fiberglass one and get it cut one of these days.

Thanks for your comments, and I am on the same page with running minus the valance, to see the exhaust similar to the 356s.
