Recommended IMS cover sealant
I have a slight leak from this area and am in the process of taking the engine supports off to get access to the cover. I am thinking of using a gasket and maybe a rtv sealant which I have on hand or pay to buy Loctite 574 or something better.

I would not use any kind of RTV on that.
My recommendation would be to make sure the cover is completely flat (true it if necessary) and seal it with 574.

Thanks, Steve. Will pick 574 next week.
Steve, I noticed that I have a tube of Loctite® 518 Gasket Eliminator Flange Sealant. What's the difference 518 vs 574?

Thanks, waiting for it to set. Will wait a couple of days to see if there are any leaks, before I button it up.

keep in mind it set in about an hour. It is an aneroboc sealant meaning that it sets in a lack of oxygen environment. It will always appear not set on the outside where there is oxygen. Button it up and go . the secret is clean clean clean before you start .
