Default New Guy - Garage Find - Pic Heavy

I'm a former 944 owner who would like to introduce myself and my 911. When I was a kid in the 80's all I wanted was a new Porsche. 911, 928, 944... it didn't matter. Any one of them would do. There were a couple new Carrera 3.2's in my neighbourhood. A white coupe and a red targa. Every time they would driver by, we would hop on our bikes and chase these poor bastards down the street just so we could listen to the flat 6 whir away and to get a chance to get a closer look. SN Motors was a small dealership in town that sold BMW's and Porsches. Every year my dad would take me down there around the time the new cars came in so I could get my yearly harvest of brochures and by the time the sun came up the next morning, I had them memorized from cover to cover. Posters and pictures cut out of magazines adorned the wall of my bedroom. I had a copy of No Man's Land that lived in the VCR. I needed one. Bad.

Fast forward almost 30 years and life is now complete. I had a colleague come up to me and ask if I'd have any interest in an old 911 project. He wasn't too sure about the details or how much the guy wanted. All he knew was the guy bought the car new locally, brought it home and heard about it from his wife everyday since. He drove it from April 1, 1984 until 23 Sept, 1990 and finally parked it at his mom's place as he didn't have storage at his condo downtown. And it sat, until October 2001 when somebody told him that he should change the oil even if he doesn't drive it. He renewed his registration and had it towed to the Porsche dealer where they put new Dunlops on it and did an oil change. Then he had it towed back to his mom's garage where it sat until it was time that his family put his ailing mother into a retirement home. That's when he remembered he had an old red car that he still didn't have room for. He needed to sell it but it had to go to a good home. Part of our deal is I have to keep it for a long time, and let him see it every now and again. I plan of keeping it until it's time to pass it down to my boys.

I look forward to being part of this board and I hope you all enjoy the pics.

The day it was pulled out of storage.

Wow! That's beautiful. Love the three spoke steering wheel, much sportier than the four spoke that replaced it in '85. Enjoy it!
