Default 7" and 8" x 15 tire choices..

I have a 76 911s I just acquired that came with original 7 and 8 x15 Fuchs. It has flared rear fenders (rolled), so basically the same look as an SC space wise.
It came with Toyo RA1 tires all around, and they are all the same size of 225-50-15, which makes the front tires bulge on the sides a bit.
My question is, should I change the fronts to 205's to match the 7" rim? or do I leave the 225's?
My rear wheels have spacers and are basically maxed out on fender clearance, so the car is definitely staggered wheel wise. In your opinion, leave as is? or can this be optimized?
The car is a weekend car used for spirited driving and perhaps an occasional autoX and track duty (maybe twice/year).
thanks for the input.

My '76 Carrera 3.0 came oe w/ 7 & 8 x15 205/50 & 225/50 tires, that worked great for me, you could also use a 205/55 front or 225/45 rear

usually w/ SC/Carrrera rear flares you wouldn't need a spacer w/ 8 ET10.6 Fuchs

Thanks for the input Bill.
Then I'll probably order 205/50's for the front and keep the old 225's as rear spares.

I just realized my tires are 10 years old per the code on the sidewall, so Im going to replace all 4 tires with fresh rubber.
Seems that on the 205/50 x15 and 225/50 x15 the options are very narrow. So out of the below options, what would you pick?
Yokohama ADVAN A048
Toyo Proxes R888 or
Toyo Proxes RA1

Bill,
How about the Avons CR6ZZ? 215 front and 225 back seems to be the best options.
Thanks.

Among other things the Avon tires that might fit are awfully tall, this negates the benes of using a 15" wheel

You might as well use a 16, 17 or even 18 and get the benefit of modern construction and multiple choices

OP... the 911 is "rear-tire" challenged.... I'd like the most rear tire I can get, but IMHO, a narrower front tire works just fine....

First, unless you dial in ridiculous camber, you can't get a 225 front tire flat on the road anyway, and wide tires tend to "tramline" and give darty handling.

For a street 911 a 205 is a perfect front tire option.

Thank guys.

I'm very inclined to go with the Michelins TB-15.

Front: 15/60-15 (170/65VR15)
Rear: 18/60-15 (215/55VR15)

A bit narrow in the front, but a compromise to get the tires I want.

Thanks.
R.

I was told this car is running the 18/60-15 Michelin TB15 215/55VR15 in the front and rear.

These are exactly the same wheels I got! 7x15 and 8x15.

I Pulled the trigger and went with the Toyos RA1's, while researching RL seems that most people prefer them over the R888.
205's in the front and 225's in the rear it is!
Thanks to all for their input.

That's what I have on my '74 Carrera and I just love 'em.
