Jees, I was just about to pull the '84 Carrara out of the garage and wash it, but with another year's worth of dirt on it, I can sell it as a "barn find" and double my money....

Lets put it this way, My father and I have a 88 with 73k miles on it. We have bought a 05 boxster to drive instead of the 88 911 so we can keep the miles low and it in good condition because its worth literally 2x what we bought i for just 7 years ago.

Nice car... a keeper, but do not be afraid to drive it... these cars do not like to sit.... a history of regular use will actually increase its value... anything under 100K is still considered "low miles", so you have some room to work with.

Exactly. They are cars. People wear Rolexes and 4 karat diamonds. It's not a Picasso that was made to be looked at. It must be driven.

Bought this 911sc last year, put 10,000 miles on it since then! Now it has 390,000 miles!! Perfect car to enjoy anytime! Investment is the enjoyment you get from these cars, especially with your kids!

Gt3 stays preped for track duty=perfect scenario!

Cheers!

I would buy one as soon as possible. I remember 8 years ago I wanted a 912 to drive around as a commuter car, since gas prices were high. I figured they were getting better gas mileage. I looked last year and couldn't believe the prices! Back then I only wanted to spend about 12k. Today a 912 is over 20k in So. California. Buy it, drive it and love it!

I remember I look at a '68 912 about 7-8yrs ago, back then was $10k for a solid driver and I thought it is little expensive. Today a driver 912 is going for $30k?

Is there an added push in prices because people ( men mostly) want the car they dreamed of when they were 16?

Approx 30 yrs later they have disposable income. Seemed to affect the 60s ' Vette market in the 90s.

Affected me anyway

That is totally what is pushing it. That, and men always want what is in vogue.

I was horrified to find so many 911's just worn out and used up. My life long dream car was just some rich person's trash. Interiors shot. Engines dirty. It was sickening.

Now the same cars, in the same shape have gone from $15,000 to $35,000 without so much as new carpet.

Not sure they have car aspirational culture in other countries , but teenagers 30 yrs older are definitely a factor
