We are about 50/50 here I would say. There is absolutely no doubt that the 944 series was sold at a lower price point , and I think suffered from lack of quality maintenance over the years which may have shortened its life.
There is no doubt a 968 is a rare sight. Which is a shame really.

See them all the time especially 944's are everywhere. I rarely see air cooled 911's anymore unless I go to gatherings or drives with fellow rennlisters. Occasionally I see a 930 or a 928. Mostly all exotics and newer Porsche's around here.

Mostly new cars and exoctics around my area. Very few old 911s make an appearance.

Given the number of lambos and ferraris around my neighbourhood, I stick out in my old 964 turbo and 964 speedster.

Classics are the only way to be different in my neck of the woods.

This SC coupe that sold for $20K on BAT seemed like a good deal

http://bringatrailer.com/listing/198...-911-sc-coupe/

I wonder if it will show up on Beverly Hills Car club website for $30K...

I would not make judgements on 968's based on what he worked on. I have seen plenty and there are some nice ones and quite a few rough ones. Most suffer from lack of maintenance because entry fee is low and most that purchase them cannot afford to maintain them properly.
He might have been influenced by a very biased and vocal owner.

Same here. There are 7 Porsches on my street. One guy has a gt3 and a 918. Another has a 3.2 that never leaves the garage. The others are all newer 911s. My 964 is the only one that I know of within 100 miles. There are about 4 993s that I have seen in the city. One of those 993s never made it out this summer. These things are getting tucked away and I suspect it might be due to increase in value. I drive mine whenever I can. This market is a double edged sword for those who really enjoy a great drive.

Well taking a look at the last few auctions of reserves not met and availability of clean cars starting to surface I'd say the insanity has peaked and we are moving back into a "normal" market. Nice late 70's turbos for under $80, clean long hoods for mid $70s, SCs for under $40 and two recent low mile RSAs for mid $80k... It's not that people are still asking $500k for a normal 993tt but they can be had again for under $150k....a month after Rennsport...hmmm a correlation maybe?

March typically will show if things begin to heat up or cool off.

I think a lot of the froth has bubbled off the top. Values are still really solid on good cars.

Absolutely, I think the buyers are more educated after 2 years of living in the Air cooled bubble / frenzy. I think its just the average cars are now sitting at over inflated prices. Hopefully things will mellow out so people like me, who want to drive these cars as intended, can afford to do so.

Oddly, in 35 years of dealing with these things.........and long before any price run ups..........there's probably a 90% disconnect in your statement. If you want one, you buy one. None of these things should be more than a rounding error in one's net worth.

I think this type of "must sell my million dollar Porsche by Thursday" ad will continue even if the bubble has burst.

Note the longhood front and G body back end.
