Default Wtb: carrera decklid

Hey guys, just picked up a very clean 85 Carrera and PO had a Turbo tail installed on it. I want to return it back to a regular decklid. If you have one and would like to part ways with it please let me know what you got. If it is silver i would pay a little more. Looking for a clean part.

Ps: i posted on FS section but thought this section would get better reception.

Happy to be back

Welcome and any pics??!

I did same thing, PO installed Turbo and I installed Carrera. It took me a good year to find one and luckily it was black and didn't need to be touched. I also sold the turbo tail. Both transactions were on EBAY. I assume you are looking there as well?

What about the "chin" spoiler? They typically go hand in hand w/ tails and Porsche never separated the two at the factory. Assuming you have one, if you remove the tail, I understand that leaving the chin will create and imbalance.

I have an original Porsche paperwork clearly saying that each spoiler, front or back, can be put on on its own. As such in my opinion seems to be an urban legend that they have to come in pairs.

Here's an interesting thread, in which a guy was told from the factory that they don't due it separately. This is the one that "supposedly" educated me. If you have paperwork showing different, then separate must be the case.

here is the document I was talking about. Obviously German but here it is what is says:
"Some Porsche cars are equipped from factory with optional front and / or rear spoilers. ..."

So for me the key words are "and/or"

Rest of the text is around that there are no comments on installed spoilers in the German paperwork you need to carry with your car but they recommend to keep this document with the car.

there are a couple early decklids on the San Francisco craigslist right now for $200 each. My bad. They are $500 each. Yikes.

Danke Horst I guess, they "in-stability" notion of miss-matching, is out the window! Aesthetically though, I still prefer a match.

Have a look at this Google book pages 24 - 25:

https://books.google.com/books?id=cs...page&q&f=false

Allegedly Porsche wind tunned testing:
Front only = oversteer
Rear only = understeer
Both on at 150mph, lift reduced from 180kg to 17kg.

There is only one way to find out at this point... 150mph turns with each configuration! ;p

I wonder if the side rockers have an impact on lift?
