Default Euro SC Questions

Have been tracking a '92 C2 964 for several years so have been over on that board. My first 911 was an '83 SC coupe. Just picked up a '79 Euro SC sunroof delete silver coupe (pictures forthcoming). Knew a little of the history of the car, but think is will need the usual $2K to get it up to snuff. Having seen prices all over the board, just curious what you 911 SC guys think is the realistic price range for a middle of the road SC. Condition is as follows: some paint blemishes, over all exterior: 7-8. Interior: 8-8.5. The Fuchs are replicas but the tires are good. No pop-off valve and no Carrera tensioners. (WOW, hard to believe in this day an age). Mileage is 120K.
Also, as these SC's a slightly lighter, how is the track performance for 180 hp? Thanks for the help and insight. Greatly appreciated. MWN

Funny.. I hate the term "sunroof delete" as there was no such thing on these earlier cars.

The sunroof was an option, which you had to pay for, just like you did for metallic paint, or Fuchs alloys back in the day.

Hey, I'm just say'n..

Oh, and I'd say $20 -$25k.. $30 is strong for that car based on its description.. of course subjective without seeing subject vehicle.

the no pop off valve and no hydraulic tensioners does not surprise me one bit.

no pop off valve usually means it is in really good tune and does not backfire through the intake. I have 78 , never had a pop off and never will. I blew my air box due to operator error, and put the new one in without the pop off valve as i new it didnt need one. That was about 5 years ago now and i was correct.

hydraulic fed tensioners ? I have them, but are they absolutely necesary ? i dont think so . Many just use the safety collar.

Thanks to you all for the replies and information. Greatly appreciated. Good point on the "sun roof delete".....it is just a coupe rather than sun roof coupe! What ever they are, these cars are a blast. MWN

I can comment on the track aspect - these cars are low powered, however are a lot of fun to throw through the corners. A lower powered car will help you focus on momentum and racing line and be more rewarding to get it right.

I pass a lot of new water cooled cars at the track mostly because they don't know how to maintain their momentum as well and rely on the power to get them going.

Cheers

Is the '79 Euro just 180 hp? The latter Euro's were 204 hp stock...still not killer but every little bit helps.

Even at 188, or 204.. more than enough to get some in trouble.
