Default 997 Steering Wheel Peeling

Hello:
Just purchased my first 911.
2006 Base Cabriolet with 65k miles on it.
The silver covering is peeling on the left side of the steering wheel.
I guess the former owner had a habit of rubbing it while driving.
Does anyone know if it can be replaced?
Could I sand it and then repaint it somehow?
any help would be great.
I just want it to look good.
Also, the black paint on the fan switch and temperature switch is also rubbed off.
Those cosmetic issues were all that my mechanic said were wrong with my new baby!
thanks in advance for any help

I'm sure this thread will get moved, but in the meantime:

This is Krylon Fusion matte black on the buttons, which were stripped of their original soft-touch paint. There's also stickynomore.com and climarepair.com if you like those alternatives, but neither kept the original font and fan glyph so I didn't bother.

For the steering wheel spoke, that's just paint on plastic. It can be removed; you might ask Eric at bumperplugs.com what he would charge to make it look brand new. You might even consider another color from stock. Good luck!
