Default What is a factory Whale Tale worth?

Have a whale tale that I might be selling so just curious as to how much these things fetch? I've seen a few priced $1,000-$1,500 and some as high as $2,500.

Any input?

Thanks

That's a Carrera tail. The whale tail has a wide lip around the outside of the rubber. Personally, I think there's nothing sexier than a Carrera tail. Whoever purchased yours got a very nice one.

Pretty sure it's a later model Whale Tale, not the carrera Tale.

The Carrera tail is commonly known as the "whale tail". The one shown above is commonly known as the "Turbo tail".

^^^this. You might be referring to as the tea tray or turbo tail as what ron mcatee mentioned on the above photo. Like Ron, I thought whale tail is commonly known as the carrera tail.

Sold mine for a stratton duck and eventually ended up with an early carrera tail or the weissach tail.

Carrera tail and the whale tail is the tail of the same animal. Tea tray and the Turbo tail are the same.

A common mistake among peripheral Porsche fans Is to mix these up. It's all good though.

I think it even shows a turbo on my " save the whales " t shirt

i got 5 green ones and gave them out as Xmas presents.. gotta spread the message any way we can . The most impact full one is the one my son wears to High school , says he is constantly getting comments on it .. and the kids at his school love it ..

Shows there is hope yet as the younger crowd still get it and respect the classic ...

of course now have to deal with " dad can i take the Porsche to school ? "

The M491 should have a 3.3 turbo tail, and nothing else. Make sure it is from a 930 and not a 964 turbo as the 964t had a different rubber lip that was not as tall.

i pretty much know what it should have...it came with the car. trying to remove some of the weight of the pig with 3.0 RS bumpers and thin tail.

why the heck did they put a tea tray on a M491 that was design for an intercooler?

I wish they would have put on a thin weissach tail. but it was the miami vice era then...

C'mon, that mistake by the shirt maker is inexcusable!

I got the green one but should have ordered an extra large.
Now I look like I should be saved.
