What is a factory Whale Tale worth?
Have a whale tale that I might be selling so just curious as to how much these things fetch? I've seen a few priced $1,000-$1,500 and some as high as $2,500.
Any input?
Thanks

That's a Carrera tail. The whale tail has a wide lip around the outside of the rubber. Personally, I think there's nothing sexier than a Carrera tail. Whoever purchased yours got a very nice one.

^^^this. You might be referring to as the tea tray or turbo tail as what ron mcatee mentioned on the above photo. Like Ron, I thought whale tail is commonly known as the carrera tail.
Sold mine for a stratton duck and eventually ended up with an early carrera tail or the weissach tail.

Shows there is hope yet as the younger crowd still get it and respect the classic ...

The M491 should have a 3.3 turbo tail, and nothing else. Make sure it is from a 930 and not a 964 turbo as the 964t had a different rubber lip that was not as tall.

why the heck did they put a tea tray on a M491 that was design for an intercooler?
I wish they would have put on a thin weissach tail. but it was the miami vice era then...
