Default Opinions Wanted on these Wheels/Tires

So I've been dead set since I bought this car to put solid black 52 Outlaw wheels on it. They are pricey - around $3,200 for the set.

Then I saw this maroon M491. It's running 17" Euromeisters. 8" on the front and 9" on the rear. The wheels are so affordable. About $800 for the set. Plus I get the benefit of the 17" tire selection. The 52 Outlaw wheels I'd purchase would be the 16" version - so less tire selection.

What do you guys think? Look good or stick with my original plan?

Original Plan:

Euromeister car:

Personally i love the 17 inch fuch look. But am not a fan of the "low rider slammed " look. I would go with the 17 inch fuch with a euro height. As long as the fuch was of excellent quality of course . Forged would be awesome but im sure very pricey.

The forged 2-piece fuchs are around the $4,500 range. I'm can't afford that much for wheels. I'm not "that money." I spent $3,500 for a set of custom Forgelines for my 993 and considered it money well spent. So $3,500 is my price range/benchmark for a nice set of forged wheels.

I don't like that the Euromeisters are cast, but heck, aren't most wheels cast? I'm sure the aluminum 20" factory wheels on my truck are cast.

I do like that the 52 Outlaws are forged. I just worry about finding tires down the road and being stuck with expensive boat anchors.

I agree with your points. I like to think that casting of today is way better quality than it was many years ago. In fact id almost bet wheels on your 100,000 dollar Porsche you buy today are cast.

Only problem is can you equate casting in Germany/ Italy vs Casting in China...

Im not throwing out dispersions, just asking the question for discusion.

but as to your original question , go with the Fuchs look if you can get it ..

Wheels are like watches. Put them on, take them off, sell them. They all tell time.

IMHO, the wheels on the burgundy car look fantastic. At $800, they are a steal, and in the unlikely event that one breaks (which it won't) , you can throw them away for what 1 forged wheel would cost.

A $50 digital watch tells time as well as a $20K solid gold Rolex.

I personally like the 52 outlaw wheels better, but unlike the others, I am a fan of the low rider slammed look.

Very good point. If I curb one or hit a bad pot hole, I wouldn't bat an eye over replacing it.

I don't think you can compare the two at all. The Euromeisters are the classical look with more tire selection, the Outlaws are exactly that. I would love to have them if they only would be legal over here but they aren't.

What about the Braid wheels? You get the size and the manufacturing process you are looking for.

These are awesome wheels, Douglass. They are just out of my budget.

Did you see that they are making these 17" 930/Turbo look specific wheels? 9" on the front and 11" on the rear? They say they will fit with no adjustments. I don't see how.

Well, we did it all the time in the '80s with rim halves bolted to turned down 16X6 Fuchs. At least the rich guys did..........

My friend still has a set of rears I picked up when a guy went all 935 with his 930. 315's on 17X11 in the rear with 245's on factory 16X9s up front on my old '74 widebody.

Cool. I had no idea you could fit that much rim and tire under there. Yowza

Various photos. Threw the last one in for kicks, as that's how the '74 was pre-surgery.

The two cars are not "low riders or slammed." There are some slammed 911's and these two cars are not them. Ride height is more about what "looks" good to the owner. Keep in mind that people on the forum are from various age groups and backgrounds, so we probably wouldn't agree on clothing, music, or what women look good, let alone the ride heights of our cars. To my tastes these two cars are perfect and almost identical in ride height. They are running different tire ratios so one looks a bit tighter that the other. The top car looks to have 10 inch rears as well.
