1988 911 - were white faced gauges factory option?
I just won a 1988 on Ebay (go figure - I forgot that I had bid on it) and noticed that the gauges are white faced. Makes me wonder if the miles on the car 13,100 are indeed not accurate - given that the gauges might have been changed.

I had those gauge faces. They were after-market on mine. They simply stick on. Sent mine to North Hollywood Speedometer last year to do a refresh/re-calibrate of the internals and to remove the white faces. I left them on for about 8 years, but got tired of them and wanted to go back to stock black. One thing the aftermarket ones do is cover the upshift indicator (CASIS) in the tach. I'd always wondered what that faint light was in my tach at night. Once I went back to black, It was obvious what it was.

13,000 original miles on an 88 is quite rare, unless you paid a boat load of money. Anyone with a 13,000 mile 88 would not put aftermarket white face gauges on it... The objective of a low mileage car would be to keep it original. Anything is possible, but it doesn't seem logical. Also, I don't think you would "forget" bidding on a 13,000 mile Porsche and win. If the price was so low you forgot, then something doesn't add up.

White gauges, no. The invoices show mileage in the range between 140-180k miles, and those are ten years old. Its safe to assume mileage is somewhere north of 190k.
