Same scenario, "barn find" 1982 RoW with 42K miles sitting for better than a decade. Getting the engine started to a top end rebuild. Two head studs broken.
While we are at it replacing the head studs with 993 studs, send out heads, shave them as they had corrosion, new exhaust valves, new valve guides, new rings and naturally, gaskets. New fuel lines and fuel pump. Add chain tensioner kit and air box blow off as well as new vacuum lines. Clutch was stuck on flywheel. New clutch assembly and shave flywheel. We have not even gotten into the suspension (turbo tie rod ends), new tires, brakes and brake lines. Once done, then to body shop. Fortunately, the interior is above average, naturally crack or two on the dash. Fun, Fun, Fun! In the end, a nice car to drive and enjoy.
