Wheel Spacers for 79 SC
What is the maximum wheel Spacer size, front and rear, that can be used on a 79 SC with the OEM Fuch wheels? 6 in front, 7 inch rear wheel. Im trying to get my wheels flush with the fenders. thank you!

i know this doesnt answer the question but you will need adapters for sure .. and you can put as big an adapter on as you would like . I imagine it would put tremendous strain on the wheel bearings and other components as you you move the centre line of the wheel further away from the bearing ( canterleaver effect ) . Also i imagine the handling might be different , .. but its all what your tollerance is for these things ..
If you were to ask Porsche they would say "zero" because thats the way it was designed , and well, they are Germans ..
The rest is up to you ,

When I use a proper coned open steel lug nut on my stock studs w/Fuchs wheels the stud is almost flush with the end of the nut. With a 7mm spacer the stud would be 1/4 " short of filling the lug nut. Not good.
If the OP uses the alloy closed lug nuts he may not be aware of the danger in not meeting the original spec. depth.

I have 13mm spacers in the back right now with 7" Fuchs, longer studs, and stock Tbars. I'll be going to 17mm spacers once I've got my new coilovers and 930 brakes installed and the back is a bit stiffer. That still won't be flush, but it will look better. I would never even consider using adapters.

I can't even count the number of race cars using up to 2" rear spacers on 100mm studs back in the '70s and '80s. If you were using a 930 offset wheel, say an 11X17, on a hack regular 911 w/o 930 trailing arms you didn't have much choice. Zero failures that I ever saw/heard of in PCA GGR or POC.
If my memory isn't all fuzzy, for our OP it's a 66mm stud with a 3/4" spacer. Did enough of them back in shop #1 in the '80s, even though 8" wheels were common and relatively cheap.

Are you sure your studs are stock?

Stock studs. I'm getting a good 17mm/10 full threads with this setup. Is that acceptable? I haven't had any issues.
