GT3 Question

6GT3s are difficult to drive out of the box, but once re-tuned and mastered are much more fun to drive, and the difference in speed between the 6GT3 and the 7GT3.1 is extremely small. As was said above, the 6GT3s are appreciating, and the 7GT3.1 are still sliding a bit.
If you are a driver, the 6GT3 is the most rewarding.
The 7s are much better looking, IMHO. I see them in my rear view mirror all the time...

Three Wheelin'
6GT3 will be worth more than 7.1GT3 for sure. As others said less made, and the last of the pure GT3's without all the electronics.

A 996 GT3 is difficult to drive in stock form? My head is exploding with memories of any/all of my own, friends, and customers square tire sized torsion bar cars over the decades.
One comes to mind--2.4T w/ 2.8RSR engine, Willow T8, no aero, 205 XWX's. I honestly don't think the entry to T8 was any slower than what most approach in a late model 911. Wish we had data in the '80s, other than segment timing with a stopwatch........

One of the many known problems with the 6GT3 is the poor rear geometry caused by the non-parallel rear toe link, which causes toe out with load, encouraging a spin. Another is the poor stock spring rates, severely undersprung in the front (225-250#, IIRC). This causes nose dive under hard braking, further lightening the rear under braking, and worse under trail braking. Another is the likelihood that the LSD is worn out after a few track days, again destabilizing the rear under hard braking. Thus, so many spins and crashes in the 6GT3. I tracked an '87 911 for many years, and it was more consistent than the 6GT3. Then add the 175 additional hp to the GT3, and my guess is that on most turns on most tracks, the 6GT3 is carrying more speed at the end of most straights while braking for turns.

6RS totally different story, may be on par with 4.0RS.
