1986 oil leak
I just finished my last drive of the season before storing the car. I noticed a trail of oil spots dripping by both front axles. I have not had time yet to jack the car and start looking. What are your thoughts?

I lifted the car with a floor jack and found it is a gas leak not a oil leak. There is a pan covering the front axle and the gas has a steady drip when the engine is running. Is there a joint under the pan where the gas lines run that is known to leak?

There is a soft line from the tank to the fuel pump that is known to rot and fail. Also, there are fittings between the fuel pump and hard lines that run to the rear of the car.
My money is on the rubber line between the tank and fuel filter. It has a fairly sharp bend in it that makes is ripe for leakage. It is an easy fix.

I'd be very careful here. I may be wrong but if it's the hose between the tank and fuel pump it will leak until the tank is empty, any spark could be disastrous. If past the fuel pump it should only leak with the key on. Either case first thing I would do is siphon as much fuel as you can from the tank before you try any disassembly.

If that were my car my next project would be entire fuel system line replacement and it would be parked till then . I think you get very very lucky there and would take it as an omen.
