Closed at $111k. I don't think that represents a Magnus premium on the car. I think that is current market for what it is.

Early 930 with rebuilt motor.
Not a bad sale.
Had it not been a Magnus car, bids would have been under 100k.

For an unrestored car it was nice money.

You really got to be a 930 guy to pay 6 figures for a 70's 930.
I like them but for $100k there are a couple of alternatives out there for sure.

Love the vehicle...dislike the marketing. Jealous is the wrong end of the spectrum, actually.

Let the ball washing begin.

I'd just like to have a hot rod without everyone thinking it's Mangus inspired.

I can totally see that. The R-Gruppe predates him by a decade. And most of what those guys were doing was sport purposes, ST and RS inspired. Still Magnus is largely doing the same using R style headlights and taillights. Only new thing he added was pulled from the 356/550/718 parts bin with the whole louver thing. That's all he did that was truly unique and hasn't been popularized before.

This turbo has nothing signature Magnus other than a pair of stickers and no center caps. There was no Magnus "design" put into this car IMO. All he did was take a neglected and sick 930 that had been parked in a garage for a long time, give it some serious mechanical love and care, and clean and detail it really well. Any of us could do the same thing with a similar car.

Decade? Jim @ EASY was the original inspiration in the late '70s. Cris took it from there circa 1980 when we met. (Though he got all pissy with me on a recent Facebook post............) If anyone's interested, one of the other guys did a "Real History of R Gruppe about 10 years ago. I'm not going to post it, but email me if you're interested.

Ken, I think you missed the point by getting hung up on dates. The general point was they were doing it WAY before he was. I know nothing of the R Gruppe creation myth. I like their cars. Never really took it further than that. Don't know a thing about their private subculture.

Magnus Walker mentions in one of his videos the fact he doesn't buy/fix/upgrade Porsches with the intention of selling them. He does what he does to satisfy his own passion. Occasionally he'll sell one of his cars (like the mentioned 930).

He doesn't have to sell cars to sell "Mangus". Walk into Sierra Madre and tell me he isn't for sale.

Heck, look at some of the local PCA sites:

Magnus just started a line of private label wheels. Of course he is for sale.

Doesn't upset us, rather contrast it to everyone from Max Hoffman to Vasek Polak to the Andial guys to even just the racer entrepreneurs like Kelly-Moss (David Stone), Jerry Woods, etc. You know, guys who added true value.

Thoroughly dispelling the myth that "Out Of Control Hobby" was just a thread about his cars, and "Urban Outlaw" was just a home movie. He planned all this long before he started pitching his first video.

Let's just say that had he made his money in an industry that edified the lives of young people rather than how he did, selling trashy street threads at Hot Topic, I'd likely have no problem with him personally.

Why compare him to those guys?
He's working a dif venue...and one senses a bit of 'upset' or whatever.
Actually IDGAF but the angst over him seems a waste of energy.
