Height of Bridgestone 245/45/16 RE-11's ?
Hi Guys ,
Over 25 years of ownership ( and only 15K miles ) I've had 3 sets of tires on my 911 besides the as delivered Dunlops . I'm running Fuchs 7 + 8's and have always run a 245/45 on the rear . Back in the day I had Yokohama 008R's and they were huge - wider than any other 245 I've seen and taller as well - more like a 50 aspect ratio . Next came a set of Bridgestone SO-2's and they were much narrower and very short - so much so that I took them off because they looked so odd . The car is now on Yoko Advan 032R's which are probably in the middle of the other two appearance wise . I doubt I've put 600 or 700 miles on them ( all street ) and am thinking of swapping them out due to age . I did buy one NOS Michelin Pilot Sport Cup in a 245 , but it looks like I'd have to ship in the other three from Europe to make up a set ( one more 245 and the two front 205's ) which leads me to the RE-11's . If anyone has 245's on the rear of a 911 or 930 could you measure the height of them ? The one 245 Michelin I have looks to be about a half inch taller than the 032's I have on the car . The RE-11 probably makes more sense as a street tire vs the comp based tires I've been using , but I don't want to make the mistake of buying tires which don't fill out the wheel well height wise . Before someone suggest it I know I can go 225/50 , but I'd like the additional width of a 245 . And of course none of the tire manufacturers specs ( if they post them ) are accurate so you can't go by them either .
Thanks for the help and input ,
Bryan

i'm about to put the same exact tires on my 7/8 combo - unless i change my mind last minute to T1Rs, RA-1s or R888s - and TR lists the height of the RE-11 (245/45-16) @ 24.7". the 225/50-16 is listed at 24.9" for fronts.

I am going to try to find a tire dealer who has a 245/45 RE-11 in stock and will take my Pilot Sport Cup with me for a comparison . On paper at least the RE-11 should be taller , but I'm skeptical - been down this path before . I found a note with the height of the Yoko 008R's - the 245/45's were almost 25'' tall and looked nearly as wide as a 255 . I only drove the car on the street with them and they worked well - weren't too terribly noisey as I recall . The car has never been in the rain , but I think they would have been a handful in the wet .

Can't speak to the size, but I run RE-11 on my car (6's and 7's) and the performance is fantastic, both dry and wet. If/when I go 8" rears I'll be putting the 245's back there.
