Hi,

A few weeks ago I bought my first Porsche 911. And I will never forget that day!

Specs:
1984 Porsche 911 Coupe
125k miles
2-owner
Burgundy/burgundy
Steve Wong Chip
Beautiful (loud) Custom Exhaust

She has extensive history and service records. I plan to add to it.

A few questions:
1) Which book should I buy for repair work?
2) What parts are NLA but are most in demand?
3) Going to take her for the initial tune up to PowerTech in NJ...any feedback on them?
4) As a new Porsche owner, are there any common issues I need to watch out for?

congrats on the car!

my book recommendations would be: 'the used 911 story' for its breakdown of year-specific nuances. i'd also buy a bentley manual if you plan on doing your own maintenance.

the initial tune-up should reveal any pressing issues that need to be sorted. it really depends on the life your car lived previously.

Thanks. I was also thinking bentley since that's what I use for my other car.

Fantastic car, congrats. My 84 is dark red metallic with burgundy. Very rare, and desirable. I think you hit it out out of the park.

BTW, join PCA. Schattenbaum, RTR, or NNJR are your home clubs. Good folks.

Congratulations! If you are by North Jersey, you may want to drop by Cars, Croissant and Coffee this Sunday, Sept 7 at Chatham High School Parking Lot 8:30am to 11:00am (255 Lafayette Avenue, Chatham, NJ). Would love to see your new baby.

Rob
Congrats on your new 84. I have an 84 Targa, which I love.
I've met Mike Daino at Powertech and have heard only good things. The feedback is that they do great work at a reasonable cost.
Lots of great people at NNJR Joining the club and going to events will get you in touch with many resources for your car.
Best of luck with the new car.

Probably too late to be of any help but POWERTECH is the way to go, I've had high end jobs and low end jobs, i.e. involved and expensive and easy and fairly inexpensive, done by them and I'm extremely happy with the results.

Thanks for the invite. Unfortunately I was away. Please let me know when the next meeting will be or if there's a forum to check out for meetings.
