Good luck to your wife. I have found learning about these cars fun, but not as fun as driving them

I am in the market for an air-cooled also but I don't need everything to be perfect, I just want a great reliable fun car to drive since I realized it's time to make my dream since I was 5 come true. I doubt I will ever sell the once I eventually get.

Thats just nuts. If one needs to finance a 25+ year old car, they can't afford it, not to mention the possible downside risk of a motor failure, etc.

No need to finance. She bought a really nice car. We will be going to get it this weekend. Thank you for all the help. Def blew the budget up but it is a complete original car from a great seller.

I financed mine. Had it paid off in 10 months. Likely the least expensive car I've owned in a couple decades. Far less expensive than my Chevy Astro.

This is true.

Have you looked at autotrader.com? The $15,000 cars are now advertised at $30,000 and the $20,000 at $40,000+....I don't get it. Hope they are selling, but man. There is an $89,000 example just 10 miles from here. People are smokin'....a slant nose turbo cab with shot red interior listed at over $119,000.

Since a correctly chosen 25-year old car - like the ones being discussed - are increasing in value, seems to make more sense to finance than a heavily-depreciating new one.

I didn't say anything about buying new. I don't finance anything, let alone a 25yo car. I also don't buy new cars any more.

I think I realized that you didn't say 'new' in you post. I did. Good that you don't have to finance anything. Some people do. So IF (read word 'if') a person needs to, then for an appreciating asset (see word 'appreciating') it makes even more sense. After this, take this offline and PM me.

I don't see any need to take anything offline. I was simply clarifying that I did not compare to new.
