Shout out to Jim Bergeron at Intercity! Easy process for a novice arranging cross country transport.
Intercity indicates pickup week of July 7th. I hope that will happen and put them in NC the following Friday or weekend, but stuff happens so I will try to remain calm.
Once the car is here, I'll get temporary plates, wipe it down, and report around to Jason's at the first opportunity.
I must admit that, as I told Pete, I feel a greater than usual sense of responsibility to take care of his "survivor." But, I will do my best to follow his instructions to "Drive it like you stole it."
BTW, any recommendations for preferred air cooled specialists in the RTP area are appreciated. I am in north Raleigh, inside I-540.

Another vote for Kannon. He has serviced our 964T and the 993... his shop is just off of Gresham Lake Rd. He can handle all your service needs. Digital Chassis, over in Durham, is the place for alignments and tire mounting.

Thank you both for the references. I look forward to meeting you both at some point soon.
Meanwhile, I am antsy to hear about when the car will be picked up!

Larry from Intercity contacted Pete Z. (seller) earlier than expected and arranged pickup of our 911SC in SOCAL for delivery to Raleigh on or about 13 July. Holiday weekend and additional pickups/deliveries, etc.
Had a great phone call from Larry who raved about Pete Z. and Kate. He really was amazed at the condition of the car.
I have attached a photo of Larry in action and look forward to meeting him. He was a delight to speak to by phone and was very professional.

Congratulations to you! That's so great; it's been a bit of a journey for you to this point, but hey, the best hunts have the greatest rewards.
Incidentally, I feel like I just got my own 911. Though I've "owned" it for 7 months, just drove it for the first time last week following an extensive 'while we're in there service.'
These cars are so rewarding Sam, that you may find yourself doing the same. But enjoy it first! Congrats again

Gothing (John):
Heck yeah, I'll take a SCDPW sticker. I had to Google the meaning so now I am worried that it will ruin my next security clearance update with e becoming part of such a radical group. Thanks!
BTW, after the notes from you and gr1275, I drove by Flat Six on Sunday. Three 911s parked out front a T, what appeared to be a SC undergoing surgery and maybe a 996. I actually didn't look at the newer car. The T looked very nice. looks like a good place to get to know.
Brooksbier - I hope thaht is te reality! The driver called me after pickup and said it has a few indications of use (some chips), but overall he thought it was in great shape. I will let Gothing and some of the other central NC folks judge it when I get out to the local C&C.
JC - thank you for the kind words. The test will be my wife's willingness to ride without a/c in muggy Raleigh. She is okay early of late in the day...I think.
Barb is anxious to see the car. She drove a 1968 Beetle in college and is good with a clutch. And I taught her how to do field repairs (vice grips and duct tape) on a Rabbit clutch cable when we lived in San Francisco - she worked in off Ocean Beach and we lived in the Marina District. Serious hills on that commute.
A. Hudson - It is a slippery slope that requires more self control than I usually display. But I am determined to learn the car and experience it in a pretty stock condition for awhile. Of course, I am already thinking hard about changing the stock wheel for one of Jason's Prototipos. I'll know more in a few days when I see it in person.
Len sent a note with a question about the tail. Pete put it on a couple of years ago. It is a Carerra 3.2 tail (flatter perimeter rubber rather than the raised lip).
And Amber Lamps, I am still thinking about that referral fee. Not sure what I can send to a guy with the tool cabinets you have.
