15x4.5 Fuchs question
Hey Guys,
I have a 67 912 that I am almost done restoring ... I need new tires so I started look at options and realized that the wheels are 4.5 x 15. I have a set of five, they are definitely old and definitely light but I'm wondering if there are any marks to authenticate them as real Fuchs? I have no reason to believe that they are replicas but I don't want to misrepresent them. The 4.5x15's seem to have a good bit of value and being that this is a 912, although done very nicely, I want it to be a nice driver and I'm wondering if swapping to a 5.5x15 would make more sense and letting someone who wants a 4.5 from an authenticity perspective have (buy) these?I'm including a link to some pics. They are regular polished Fuchs with the inset section painted black. The only mark says 4 1/2 JX15. Also is it possible that these came on the car from new because that changes things. Thanks for any help!

I would get a COA to see what wheels came your car before selling those. There should be a fox head a part # date stamp on those some where. Use some wheel clearner and clean them very carefully, use a toothbrush. Some of these had ruber stamps instead of raised number.

good idea on COA although I have my doubts as to whether or not it will give me the wheel info. Further cleaning revealed the part number on fox - so now the question is are they worth more than similar 5.5's and do I keep them or trade them?

Phil was right on. Did you sell or trade off the wheels?

I beleive 14" steelies or 14" Fuchs would have been on your car.
15x6 would be nice your car. (the 15x5.5 are a little harder to find and can be more costly.)
If you have 15x4.5, they would be correct for a 1967S. One year only.
I really need a set for my 1967S and am currently looking at 5 different sets world wide as i will need to decide which vendor i go with this month.
Let me know if you want to move them as I am a buyer in the market today.

Here is what Porsche say https://docs.google.com/viewerng/vie...ment-guide.pdf
However i think the CN36 that they recommend is a later 68 tyre so if you want the tread pattern more correct I think CA67 is right for 1967 http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page...rato-ca67.html
I would snuggest for general road use sticking to 165R15 tyres will be lovely to drive.
