Yesterday for the first time since it happened I revisited the site of the March 2000 crash on the West Cork Rally. I came around a fast downhill left into right and never made the right. The car ran wide at about 60 mph and ran up the earth bank you see on the left.
Photo does not show how far the road falls off, it's a good downhill piece of road.
Looking down from the earthbank
Here you see the height. I swiped the gate post with the righthand front wing which then launched me upside down to end up on the roof on the road. Cars start the stage at 30 secs intervals and it was a struggle to get the navigator out before the following car would have hit us .Thanks Sean, , glad you made it. !
It was a two day rally , with over 200 miles os closed road stages. We were lying 2nd Overall by 20 secs and had made up that deficit on this stage so were in the lead when it happened.
Over the past week I've completed a 1800 mile drive in the car here in Ireland called the Wild Atlantic Way. I am now opening another new thread on the WAW drive and you can see how the car went.

It was a lovely summers evening here in Cork and a group of us PCI Members went for a short 60km drive which took in the old hillclimb road near Fernanes. A good evening was had by all.
