Default Seat options in 74

I'm nearing the end of my 74 restoration project and have located a set of nice early style, manual sport seats. I'm trying to find out if houndstooth was a factory option in 74 on these seats. Of course, with Porsche anything is possible but I'd like to know if it was an actual option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to Porsche 911 red book the following interiors were available in 74-
Leatherette-in light grain, basketweave, roy flex heavy grain
Leather
Madras (very cool)
Shetland seat centers
tweed seat centers
Twill seat trim
Alas no houndtooth but as you say at Porsche anything was possible with $$

According to the original factory '74 brochure I have here, Porsche offered:

1) Leatherette basketweave
2) Shetland fabric (plaid)
3) Tweed fabric (unknown design)
4) Perforated leather

Damn. I guess it wouldn't be 100% kosher to go with houndstooth in a 74 concours quality car. I need to make a decision here.

Thanks for the info.

If you want to restore car as how is left factory you should get a COA, the COA have there own set of issues but would give you a baseline. You are not restoring a six figure car so you can take a few liberties, I'd say go for the houndstooth if that's what you have your heart set on. I have never seen the 74 style style seats in houndstooth, love to see that. I am rather partial to houndstooth myself.

As am I. I've made up my mind to go for it on the early sport seats. They were offered in some way shape or form through Porsche so what the hell... I'll have pics up when the car is complete.

Me too. It's not like your doing a slantnose conversion. I think the Porsche community is quite accepting of tasteful changes...or they should be. I like the idea and pu911rsr: that is a lovely cockpit for an early car.

I used original Porsche Silverknit material in the repro carpets in the 914-6 and I love them much more than the original perlon, which I still have somewhere. To me, it was an upgrade but I can always go back to original everything.

Well I still have the original seats from the car, which are near perfect basketweave and vinyl so I could always go back as well.
