Default This post is not a Joke ...

Someone at our local get together asked about this post from way back , if it all wer true and I have to say every single word .. I remember it like it were yesterday.. think I'll bump it for some "entertaining " reading for the newer guys .. not a day I ever want to experience again ...

You guys wanna hear how my day went. Started off with trying to get the parking brake adjusted .seamed okay , went tight as I could then backed it off 4 clicks as the Bently mentioned. Got in the car tested it in the garage seamed fine now it stops after 3 clicks instead of five. great . I get out and decide to bring my Wifes Taurus in from the street and put it in the other side of the garage. As I am backing up I notice the door of my 911 open on the other side of the garage and get out to close it. I get back in the taurus and as I am backing it into the garage I look over and there is my 911 heading down the driveway towards the road. I jamed the taurus into park and dive out close the door so the open door isn't hit by the 911 and dive into the open window of the 911, I reach for the parking brake but it is already up. I squirm around as I hit the street and hit the brakes. totally relieved my car did not hit any kids adults or cream any cars coming down the street , not to mention my neighbours car in the opposite driveway.
I look up relieved and to my horror the Taurus is coming back down the drivewayI quickly scramlbe out of the 911 and dart over to the Taurus coming into the same street .. it is locked and the windows are up. In my panic to get out of it i just got it to neutral , not to park.. and when I got out the door must have locked. I scrambled to do something but watched helplessly as it rolled into the street. fortunately it went about 6 ft up my neighbours driveway and stopped ...so here I was with 2 cars in the middle of the street. I put the 911 away and my neighbour helped me push the Taurus back up the driveway and put wood locks in front of it and let it idle for an hour till the wife got home with the spare keys ... she saw I was non to pleased ... Rough day ?

Honey you have NO idea.. I think I am the luckiest guy in the world .. she smiles , says thanks and goes in the house ....

I am going to bed before anything else goes wrong...

Holy cow. Just think if someone had vidoed that. Incredible, and lucky. But I do have a question and I'm not being clever; assuming your porsche was not running at the time, is there some benefit to not leaving the porsche in gear?

I can't think of a day better/worse than this one. J

Oh man , a video of that would have been priceless, especially the part where you dive into the 911.

Glad you're ok.

I would have loved to be the neighbor watching from across the street on that one.

You should be glad it went that well! People have been killed trying to stop rolling cars. It's how a neighbor of my grandmother-in-law died!

holy ****, I watched my dads mustang plow into my neighbors house. I tried to stop it and got out of the way when it got close. Same deal with the ebrake.
I regret getting into my old celica and going back to school like nothing had happened. I think it took two weeks about to fix their house. I actually had the nerve to say I didn't do it. Maybe hoping no one saw me. WRONG. God I was a stupid sixteen year old.

On my wedding day 10 years ago, my integra GSR went missing, we couldn't find it and were about to report it stolen. It turned up on a neighbor's lawn about a 1/4 mile away, about 2 feet from their house! Doh!

sounds like the same day i had ! i got off of work early to go fishing, went and got the bass boat, slid it in the water and drove the boat to the dock . went back to get the trailer out of the water, i noticed my truck moving backwards down the ramp! i ran to the truck just in time to stop it, i put it in drive insted of park. now i did all this with out getting wet! pull the truck up, park it start down to the dock as i get to the dock my boat is about 6ft away.i didnt tie it off. so im goin to try to jump on it from the dock.i get a run then stop.there is no way i could do this with out getting wet or hurt.ifind an extesion cord on the dock and try to laso my boat.then the wind picks up and blows the boat away.F-CK!!!!only thing to do is swim,so i strip down to my shorts jump in and swim so fast im at the boat and back to the dock in under a minuet.the water was 67deg air was 70deg. i dried off and started fishing. my dad comes to the lake to join me and see's me stilll wet. i tell him what happend and you know how fathers can get. "you need to take your time, blaa blaa blaa" you know the saying "a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work" BULL****!!! i did end up catching alot of fish though.

That could be on one of those TV shows about funny moments...

You'll be laughing about it tomorrow!

sounds like me when I was at the pump on Sunday afternoon. In the middle of the Costco pump, I somehow found myself filling up with my car in neutral and it started rolling back down the way towards the car behind me in line! HAHA! I hit this lady's audi (gently of course) and I was still filling up the car because at Costco the fuel pump has a tether cord attached to the nozzle, and the nozzle can extend out pretty damn far! The lady in the Audi started laughing, because I didn't have the luxury of jumping into the car while fueling. She let it rest on her bumper as I filled up.

My brother was in the car, and asleep. A lot of help he did! Didn't matter how much I yelled at him he didn't bother to try to wake up. Instead he rolled around and ignored me. Dick.

Well guys at least that made me feel a little better.. I am not the only one this kind of stuff happens to. I was of course a little embarrassed about the whole thing but figured the following ...
.. I was an idiot for diving into the car to stop it , it was my first reaction , and the wrong one. If a car had been coming down the road and t boned my car with me in that position .. lights out ...
.. I was a bigger idiot for risking this for a taurus ... :-0 .. but then again lets face it , it was the innocents I was worried about ...
I NEVER leave my car in Neutral .... but the procedure I was doing required it and I just forgot after I lowered the car .. brain cramp ..
I hope someone else can learn from my embarrassment .

By the way My driveway is not THAT sloped ... if it was I would use an anchor, not a parking brake.

To tell you guys the truth I was in a bit of shock Sturday night and most of Sunday thinking about what could have happened.. it will be a while before i see the humor in it ..

take care

ice
