According to the linked dissertation loss of refrigerant gas in the capillary tube will result in the thermostatic switch being stuck OPEN, thereby NO compressor clutch operation.

The opposite of OP's problem.

Well, when you have worked on enough 911/930 AC systems you will come across more than 1 thermostat that has failed.

And, the "dissertation" is not for you, lol, its for the OP and others so they can understand what is going on and how to interpret an observation. But, if you want to try to grade test papers you can stick around until recess time.
