I am not sure how to connect the wires with this aftermarket OMP steering wheel.

In the photos, you can see how I connected it up. I tried contacting the blue wire connector onto the hub but that didn't seem to help.

Any tips?

BDW, I do not understand why are you mounting that steering-wheel like that...!? How come U did't use a central horn button? You must be a cable-lover or something... how can U screw-up the steering-wheel with those cables...?

I tried touching the round metal connector of those two blue wires to the metal hub and also tried the central nut. Maybe the metal hub is covered in paint which explains why that doesnt work .. but even touching the metal lock nut did not seem to work.

Could there be a problem with the other wire connection? or something else?

Not sure ... ask Porsche that selected the components for the 997 GT3 RSR .. same wheel.

Are there any locations where I could ground that blue wire just for testing?

During testing, the ignition was turned to the position where the dash lights are illuminated.

Bump ... would be great to get this sorted today whilst the horns & steering wheel are apart ... in about 10 hrs, I'll need to put it back together ready for the drive to work tomorrow.

looks a different situation to me....


try to short-contact the black cable to the hub: if it works, than it's buttons issue; if it dousn't, it could be a fuse or the horns.

thanks ... gave it a shot but it did not work

previously the horn worked (the high tone horn anyway) before I ...
a) pulled out both horns to repair the low tone horn and I tried resoldering the joints, and they are now both re-installed.
b) replaced the steering wheel & have not much idea about connecting it back up.

so i tried touching the connection onto the spline nut, hub and different combinations with both wires but nothing seemed to work.

probably a simple job for an auto electrician so i might have to drop it off soon

also make sure that the copper piece on the back of the hub (which connects the hub to the steering column on a circular track) is bent out far enough to actually touch the circular track... they are not usually adjusted correctly (I have had to bend both the one I fitted in different cars).

if that is touching, it will probably work when you connect the blue wire to the hub..

I'm not sure to be honest.

I only just recall pulling off the old hub, sliding on the new hub.

Hopefully I wasn't meant to salvage some parts from the old hub ... I just dropped the whole lot on ebay and it is long gone. This is what was sold on ebay .. should I have kept any of these parts? ...

you are not missing anything (well you shouldnt be..) the new hub should have a copper tab exactly like the one on the back of your OE wheel. just make sure it is bent out enough to touch the contact on the steering column and therefore complete the circuit.
