I bought a set of Porsche Carrera IV wheels with the following dimensions:

Front: 8 x 18 et 57
Rear: 10.5 x 18 et 60

What would be the right tires for my '85 928S? I'd like to go widest possible in the rear 10.5" wheel without rubbing (and closest to orig overall wheel/tire diameter).

When you say a squeeze, will there be rubbing with suspension travel during driving (bumps, etc.)?

They will probably fit, but you will need a ~5mm spacer with those 60mm offset rear wheels. Also, you may need to pull out the rear fenders just a little, but that is quite easy since they are steel.

285/30/18 with no spacers will fit nicely.

There will also be a difference in width, depending on tire brand. My wheels had P-Zero's 295/30/18 on an 11.5 rim and rubbed like crazy. Put on my Kumhos of the same size, I now have 1/4 inch more room between the fenders/tire than I had previously. They my say they are the same size, but there are a lot of variations on side wall width.

Side to side suspension tolerances are NOT the same........ one side is always tighter than the other.......

I run 275x35x18s on the rear of my 89 GT and one side is definately closer to the fender than the other.

Will my 79 928 fit a 245 35 19 in the front and 285 30 19 in the back. No spacers.

I think there is a happy medium in there but I don't see the need to run anything 275 or wider in a 928 unless you're putting down north of 450 wheel power. At 275 and larger with the bigger wheels(for example 18") that is a ton of inertia.

I have 225 and 255-16's front and rear on BBS wheels. rears have a stock spacer cut down 5mm and they do not rub whatsoever
