Default How many 968s are left?

I imagine that this would be a stab in the dark but I'm wondering if anyone knows approx how many of the North American 968s are still on the road. I've seen a number of them parted out over the past few years and I was curious how many are left.

Randi,
That is an interesting question. Once I finish the NA 968 production registry then I will concentrate on tracking the cars. I have done that since 2000. As for how many are left, 4,242 Carfax inquiries would answer thet question. Maybe someday.

The Porsche Club 968 Club in Germany (www.porsche-club-968-deutschland.de ) has an advantage over us since they have connections with the German Motor Vehicle Department. Now if Jeff could only locate the right person in each of our State's Department of Motor Vehicles - lol!

Yes its pretty amazing how many Porsche owners out there actually have NO knowledge of RENNLIST, PELICAN, or any other forum that is dedicated to there cars! And to think to some people these are just transportation devices!!!

I went to a non porsche specific junk yard a few months ago and saw either 4 or 5 968's there. At least 2 cabs and 2 coupes. Also saw 2-3 coupes at another junkyard about 4 years ago

I can only imagine how many are at some of the commercial Porsche salvage parts places

I followed a guy in a Polar Silver coupe into his driveway last week-he lives less than a mile away, it's his daily driver, I've never seen the car and he doesn't do anything Porsche related.

I gotta say, I'm a pretty laid back guy AND a gearhead, so if somebody followed me into my driveway to talk about my 968 I'd be pretty cool with it...but lots of people in interesting cars don't take kindly to it. I once followed a guy in a Veyron down US-1 for a few miles until he turned off on a side street and his bodyguard literally stopped his car sideways in the road to cut me off. Was a real ******* about it, too.
