"service now" reset
I have searched for this procedure but can't find it....
I know there is a procedure that you can clear this notice but can't remember the process but it was a simple combination of buttons and ignition position. It has worked for me in the past so I'm hoping someone will have the information.
Thanks.
Jeff

Well, I've done this before from the dash...maybe I got lucky but it worked again today.
Depress the ODO button and hold while turning the ignition on w/foot off the brake...you don't want it to start. I then turned off the key and started the car w/the ODO depressed. I got a service reset message for a while. When I restarted the car there was no "service now" warning.

Are you for real Forrest? I have never heard of this procedure. They don't teach it at service training? I will have to try it tommorow.

The most often discussed are the headunit 'magic key sequences'.
I once heard a rumor that someone actually buried the message 'Bite Me Dr. W' into the PCM display if you hit the correct sequence of front panel buttons.
FWIW, I am not familiar with the reset service indicator one mentioned here, but it might be a remnant from the early development code.

It was posted here a year or so ago. I didn't believe it would work but it did. I couldn't remember the sequence but did what I remembered this morning. Drove it for about 20 minutes and the service reset, NOT service now message came on. Turned the car off and restarted. No service now. I just went out again to start it and no service now. Maybe just for '04's? I dunno know but no chime and reminder is pretty nice.

Here is the original post...it was from Renntech. And I do recall hitting the wiper stalk menu button while driving and "service reset" cleared and all was fine.
Try pushing the odo/trip reset button and then turn the ignition on.
I accidently did this some weeks ago and saw a message a la "service reset" on the dashboard.

This is half of the solution! Hold the odometer button on while turning on the key (you don't need to start the engine). The display will say Service Reset. Press the Reset button on the windshield wiper stalk. Reset complete!!!

Besides, I am pretty sure he would like to be best remembered for the "Set Volume to 11 and stay there when the Executive's wife takes the car for a test drive".

This was applicable only to 03 and some 04's, a later version of the firmware removed it. I would say that if it still works then your car has not had all the updates it needs.
